Outreach Programmes & Street-Based Workshops

The British DJ & MC Academy takes pride in offering support to outreach programmes that are required to engage with young people, and sign posting them towards existing local youth clubs and services. Our team of experienced tutors will go to a specified area and engage with young people on the streets, outside a school or on an estate. The workshops we run include, radio presenting, showcasing and development, positive lyrical writing and rapping, DJing, singing etc.

These workshops encourage the building of self confidence and self esteem, promote team working and will empower young people to utilise these when looking for a job or furthering their education. Outreach workshops typically last 2-3 hours. There is significant evidence that these workshops help decrease street crime and anti-social behaviour whilst stimulating young people to engage in more services available to them. Young people who participate are awarded a certificate at the end of the project. We take regular registers, feedback forms and testimonial that you will be able to use to show how effective your outreach programmes really are.

Tasters start from just £250 and include everything we just need to know the location and we do the rest

Community Events & Festivals

During the spring and summer, a great way to engage a large number of residents or members of the public is by holding an outdoor community event, with fun activities for all to take part in. You will always find a bouncy castle or face painting for young children but there’s not usually much that teenagers want to get involved in. We bring our mobile music centres (MMCs), which are fully equipped with everything from CDJ’s (Decks) mics, mixing desk and live PA speakers to the event.

We can offer master classes in DJing, scratching, showcases, and beat boxing. We play different genres of music catering for all ages and tastes. Our tutors are used to host various types of events, e.g. sports, BBQs and networking. We can handle all the announcements and where required arrange for musicians to perform and get everyone inspired. On a community event we will supply everything you need. Young people and adults receive a certificate and a T-shirt for participating. We take registers, feedback forms; provide lots of pictures and video recordings.

Community events start from just £500 for a day

Christmas Parties & Celebration Events

We have a team of amazing established DJs and artists that can cater for all types of events, such as large corporate events with 1000+ people, fashion shows, shop openings, product launches, Christmas parties and award ceremonies.

We offer a comprehensive service, providing DJs, artists, music, equipment and lights. We also have a fantastic media team, who can take pictures, film and edit the entire event for you, giving you something to remember the day by.

Prices start from £300+ depending on specifications

Qualifications & Accreditations

We offer a wide range of qualifications, covering subjects such as team building, communication, events management, song writing, DJing, and radio presenting.

The qualifications we offer include; AQA’s ranging from 10 to 70 hours per unit, and Arts Awards. Through partnership organisations we are also able to offer youth work courses (ABC Awards, City & Guilds).

We work in schools, colleges, children’s homes, supported housing units, hospitals libraries, youth centres and hubs. Young people develop a better understanding of the media, get to attend events, work as part of a team and explore their creative side.

Course start from £450 per young person (per 10 young people in a group)

Courses run for 30 hours

School Holidays & Peak After School Programmes

Keeping young people occupied and engaged during the holidays and out of school times is a pressing issue. The DJ & MC Academy offers workshops and outreach programmes after school. These can be located at or close to schools offering a range of interesting and exciting activities. These activities offer support to GCSE Music students allowing them to gain practical experience of structure, composition and tempo. Statistics show that youth crime is at its highest from 4-6pm. Our mobile music centres can help to counter this; at school, or at a local park where students cut through.

Our expert tutors work with young people to teach them to DJ, rap, sing and in general have a lot of fun. Getting them to focus their energy in a positive way, so by the time young people set off for home they are happy and relaxed.

Projects start from £200 per programme
