Krissy Sims AKA DJ Trickles was asked to judge this amazing talent showcase in Barnet Grahame Park the winning prizes for the talent competition was £500 cash, recording studio time, a music video and much more. “I have to say the talent was amazing and all the acts did really really well, congrats to the winners enjoy”
Two of the Academy’s groups of young people were entered into Boroughs United competition in February @ The Hackney Empire.
Krissy Sims who runs the Academy saw star qualities in all 4 young people so after working on tracks and performances with the fantastic staff at the Academy we decided to enter them into this amazing showcase run by The Cribz every year for over ten years.
The fantastic performances included dance acts, rappers, singers and the level was at a high standard. The final winners coming first place were Ellen Blane and The FH Krew from Enfield.
The work paid off for what the organisation is about and goes to prove these kind of course and workshops really do create and enhance talent. See the performance here!!

Young People from the Campsbourne Estate in Hornsey, North London are to perform at the forthcoming Boroughs United Showcase & Awards this Sunday 30th January at the Hackney Empire Theatre. Our very own DJ Trickles will be judging the event alongside Wayne Rollins from Choice fm and many other big guests.
The five talented individuals known as ‘Conscious Minds’ completed an intensive accredited course in Music Production with the DJ & MC Academy last summer. The creative quintet wrote their own rap lyrics and along with producer J Beats and MC Angel chose backing tracks and structured their verses in order to compose extroadinary EP’s for themselves to utilize in getting established, and established they are!
Concious Minds will be performing a selection of tracks from their debut album, which they created and produced alongside the DJ & MC Academy. When asked what their music represents, Conscious Minds member Lewis aka Evilwayz stated ‘our music is all about opening minds and changing mind states as well as raising awareness about all things goin on in the world positive and negative.’
Boroughs United is run by The Crib’s youth panel, successfully managing all aspects of the production from talent coordination and marketing, to technical production. The overarching aim of Boroughs United is to relay messages of unity, harmony and non-violence. Big Up to The Cribs for orgranising this celebratory event.
Doors open 4pm and the show starts at 5:00-8:30pm. This is going to be an incredible and amazing event so grab your seats now as tickets are selling fast.
