Ellen Blane and FH Krew from The Florence Hayes Projects have got through out of 12,000 auditions to this years Teen Star Competition.
Krissy and the Team at The Academy saw pure talent in these young people. Ellen, who is only 15, has just signed up to MD Records and has been busy producing her album which is almost finished, and the FH Krew have been busy learning and developing their skills with the Academy in the last 6 months. Kymani, Nile and Michelle have worked really hard on every session so we decided to put them through to as many competitions we could find so far they have won Boroughs United in Hackney and have a bright future ahead of them.
The British DJMC Academy are now back at the Florence Hayes Playground centre so anyone wanting to get involved we are there Wednesday from 4-6pm and Fridays from 4-8pm.
The British DJMC Academy is now at Hadley Youth Centre Bell Lane every Monday from 7-9pm with two of the finest DJ & MC Tutors who will be giving young people a chance to take part in a qualification, and also not just DJ’ing and MC’ing but bringing the Bass Station down to the youth centre and re-building their studio so that the young people can create music.
So if you live in the Enfield Highway area and are 11-19 years old please come along and take part in the workshops. We will be there for the next 8 weeks starting Monday 22nd April 7-9pm.
This program has been funded by The Highway Residents Priority fund and you can also find us around the parks too!
The Florence Hayes Adventure Playground in Fore street have created an amazing partnership with The British DJMC Academy in the last 6 months.
The Academy has built a state of the art recording studio for the Centre where it’s been kitted out with a sound booth, Macs, Mac Book Pros, the latest Pioneer CDJ’s, and over the last 6 months have engaged over 50 young people and qualified 28 of them with an AQA in songwriting and DJ skills.
The young people at the centre have learnt how to use the equipment, created an album, entered into the Hackney Empire Boroughs United competition and came first in the Best Rappers category and have shown so much dedication and passion which have left the staff feeling very proud of them.
Thanks to all the young people, staff at the Florence Hayes and tutors for making this happen!
One of the Academy’s finest students and Artist’s Ellen Blane entered a competition at The Millfield Theatre in Edmonton. It was a fantastic showcase competition with many really talented young people entering including rappers, dance acts, bands and singers.
Ellen sang a brand new track she had just created in The Academy’s Studio called Sunset and decided to try and come out of her comfort zone and perform the song at the Theatre.
The event was judged by Mobo Winners, Paralympic Gold Medalist and the Director of the Millfield. For her efforts she came first. She took away a two days recording in a professional studio and got to gain more experience in front of a crowd. Her next step in finishing her album at aged 15 and then performing at lots of big events so watch this space!
Tottenham Hotspur Foundation teamed up with the British DJ & MC Academy to work with a group of young people to not only learn all aspects of DJ’ing, music production and MC’ing but to also gain an AQA qualification in songwriting and DJ’ing.
More than 10 young people gained a qualification, and they put on a fantastic performance in front of an audience of parents, friends and fellow young people at the Tottenham Hotspur Rushcroft Kickz project. Overall we were very proud of the young people they truly did deliver.
Thank you to Alex White, Darren, the tutors and the young people for making this happen!
